Sr. Plant Accountant

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Assists upper leadership to drive annual budget process including planning, forecasting, as well as variance analysis
  • Develops, maintains, and analyzes forecasts and budgets, preparing reports which compare actual costs to forecasted/budgeted costs
  • Analyzes business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses
  • Manages month-end closing and prepares monthly financial statements and other operational KPIs
  • Analyzes variances and communicates explanations to leadership with recommended actions
  • Shares best practices across global finance team including: process improvements, financial modeling, and procedure improvements
  • Provides proactive consultation, interpretation, and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions
  • Collaborates with Site Leadership to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations, and lead the development of complex analysis
  • Reviews departmental expenses and product standard costs
  • Maintains and implements plant internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks
  • Ensures proper accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as local statutory requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA/CMA experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 3+ years related Accounting or Finance experience
  • Manufacturing or chemical industry experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and execute basic accounting functions and identify process improvements
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and priorities
  • Displayed high levels of flexibility and adaptability
  • Displayed bias for action and ability to complete projects
  • Experience with SAP and Microsoft office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience working within a multi-functional, global organizational structure and exhibits robust interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work within a fast-paced environment
  • Critical thinking skills and analytical abilities allow assessments of situations and opportunities
