About the Role
The Sr. Physical Security Hardware Specialist assembles, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs regular maintenance on security system infrastructure and security video management systems. This role supports SpaceX's overall goals by working in multiple environments and facilities, ensuring the highest added value to the security posture, and collaborating closely with security staff and internal/external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Install security technology solutions, including access control, closed-circuit televisions (CCTV), and other platforms
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and instrumentation as needed
- Ensure maintenance on installed systems and hardware is performed and tracked
- Assist in job walks and determining needs for new installations and redesigns
- Fabricate, repair, and assemble hardware/equipment needed for security technology operations
- Collaborate with staff to develop and use proper procedures in support of security technology
- Ensure all components and materials are clean and serviceable
- Obtain and maintain required licenses, operator permits, or certifications
- Monitor and maintain inventory of replacement hardware, general use materials, and tools
- Process work orders and support tickets (Facilities, Information Technology, etc.)
- Assist in vendor scheduling, installation, and subcontracting for large and complex facility security systems
- Maintain documentation of job status, revisions, material flow, and project records
- Develop novel ways to streamline processes and increase security technology reliability
- Work with Lenel and Avigilon system administrators to manage access control and CCTV systems at regional and global levels
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 5+ years of experience with security systems (CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, etc.)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 5+ years using power tools, hand tools, and calibrated tooling
- Knowledge of Lenel Access Control, Avigilon Digital Camera software, and Microsoft Visio
- Lenel and Avigilon certifications
- Experience in space exploration, aviation, military, or high-reliability environments
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and photo generation
- Ability to read operating system schematics and drawings
- Experience with precision measuring instruments
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Teamwork and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse groups
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Physical dexterity for tight spaces and lifting up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to pass background screening for DOD facility access
- Comfort working at heights (up to 300 feet) and in extreme outdoor conditions
- Availability for extended hours, weekends, and up to 35% travel
Pay
Pay Range: $105,000.00 - $145,000.00. Actual salary determined case-by-case based on experience, skills, and education. Includes potential for stock incentives, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits.
