About the Role

As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing phlebotomy procedures, ensuring accurate specimen handling, and assisting with customer requests for laboratory information. You will also need to maintain up-to-date knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs phlebotomy in accordance with established protocols
  • Accurately and timely receives, labels, transports, centrifuges, and aliquots specimens
  • Assists with customer requests for laboratory information, including sending specimens to national reference labs
  • Prepares and packages specimens for transport to reference labs
  • Researches new sendout requests by physicians using available resources
  • Enters lab charges and CPT codes on all Lab Miscellaneous tests
  • Distributes specimens to testing sections based on collection priority
  • Faxes and distributes results as needed
  • Maintains knowledge and deployment of policies and procedures used within the department and throughout the hospital
  • Addresses patient questions and concerns

Requirements

  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant. Phlebotomist Certification
  • Hospital Phlebotomy, computer skills, and > = 1 year specimen processing and sendouts
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment
  • Experience with pediatric, geriatric, oncology, and neonate patients
  • Bilingual proficiency preferred

Qualifications

  • High School, GED, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of specimen processing and sendouts experience
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Experience with pediatric, geriatric, oncology, and neonate patients
  • Bilingual proficiency preferred

Pay

The estimated pay range for this position is $19.44 - $25.27 per hour, depending on experience.
