About the Role
As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing phlebotomy procedures, ensuring accurate specimen handling, and assisting with customer requests for laboratory information. You will also need to maintain up-to-date knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Performs phlebotomy in accordance with established protocols
- Accurately and timely receives, labels, transports, centrifuges, and aliquots specimens
- Assists with customer requests for laboratory information, including sending specimens to national reference labs
- Prepares and packages specimens for transport to reference labs
- Researches new sendout requests by physicians using available resources
- Enters lab charges and CPT codes on all Lab Miscellaneous tests
- Distributes specimens to testing sections based on collection priority
- Faxes and distributes results as needed
- Maintains knowledge and deployment of policies and procedures used within the department and throughout the hospital
- Addresses patient questions and concerns
Requirements
- AAMA Certified Medical Assistant. Phlebotomist Certification
- Hospital Phlebotomy, computer skills, and > = 1 year specimen processing and sendouts
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced work environment
- Experience with pediatric, geriatric, oncology, and neonate patients
- Bilingual proficiency preferred
Qualifications
- High School, GED, or equivalent
- 2+ years of specimen processing and sendouts experience
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

- Bilingual proficiency preferred

Pay
The estimated pay range for this position is $19.44 - $25.27 per hour, depending on experience.
