Sr NPI Manufacturing Engineer

This role is onsite at our Northridge, CA office.

About the role

MiniMed is seeking a Senior NPI Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes, production layouts, and equipment to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity. Collaborates with engineering teams to align product designs with manufacturing requirements, drives corrective actions for equipment and process issues, and ensures compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Designs manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
• Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure the most efficient and productive layout.
• Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
• Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
• May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
• Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
• Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.
• Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Prefer a degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Previous manufacturing experience including equipment validation and installation, yield improvement.
• Able to manage multiple process validations simultaneously.
• Ability to plan and execute with speed and accuracy.
• Statistical analysis knowledge.
• Experience with mechanical assembly equipment such as heat staking, adhesive dispense, electrical functional test equipment.
• Previous project management (PM) experience.
• Previous fixture design and deployment experience.

Travel

Ability to travel 20% to 30% domestic and international.

Pay

Salary ranges for U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) locations (USD): $87,000.00 - $149,000.00. For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $97,000 - $165,000 USD. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location.
