About the role
The Sr Network Security Engineer operates Palo Alto firewalls to protect networks from advanced cyber threats. Responsibilities include managing firewalls, creating rules and configurations, performing audits, and supporting vendor management.
Responsibilities
- Manage, configure, implement, and migrate Palo Alto firewalls
- Create and troubleshoot firewall rules and configurations using templates
- Perform capacity planning and OS upgrades
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
- Develop debugging and trace tools to aid network and security teams
- Create and maintain Visio diagrams for network flow
- Manage vendor relationships for managed circuits, equipment, and support
- Support a wide range of infrastructure technologies including Cisco routing and switching, WAN/LAN, VoIP, Unified Communications, and enterprise management systems (VMWare, NetApp, AD, Citrix, and NetScalers)
- Work with security compliance standards such as HIPAA
- Support site-to-site and remote access VPNs
- Provide 24/7 support with an on-call rotation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electronic engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 7 years' experience in Network Security (Firewalls) engineering, design, and implementation
- 5 years' experience and a working knowledge of enterprise, border, and optimization management architectures/systems (VMWare, NetApp, AD, Citrix, NSX, NetScaler)
- 5 years' experience in IT infrastructure or related IT experience
- 5 years' experience with LAN switch technology (including large-scale LAN networks, STP, VTP domain management, network test methods and equipment)
Qualifications
- A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Skills
- Working knowledge of Cisco network environment
- Experience with security compliance standards (e.g. HIPAA)
- Experience with site-to-site and remote access VPNs
