About the role
This position will lead the evaluation of intermediate network systems, recommend resources for scalability, and identify products for enhanced service levels in multisite connectivity environments. Supports standards for low-latency networks in high-traffic retail and omnichannel environments. Recommends enhancements for security, mobility, and access. Provides resolution of complex network problems and evaluates new products. May provide work leadership and direction to other team members. This role is located in Springfield, MO and is not open to remote work.
Responsibilities
- Drive advances in technologies and architectures to increase the value delivered by technology and digital capabilities, either through improvements to efficiency or reductions in total cost of operations.
- Recommend and participate in activities related to the design, development, and maintenance of digital capabilities within the enterprise architecture.
- Design and select business-critical storage, data center, and client/server environments to align with industry best practices; serve as a third-line escalation point for global infrastructure solutions.
- Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products and services.
- Recommend technical developments to improve the quality of websites, portals, applications, and supporting infrastructure to better meet user needs.
- Design and perform software tests for websites and applications; respond to user emails to monitor, diagnose, and correct performance issues.
- Collect business requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis to express requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
- Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues; evaluate their potential impact or usefulness to the organization.
- Implement required security measures, such as firewalls or message encryption, and provide input on their design; monitor performance to notify security experts of problems.
- Develop capabilities through assessment, development planning, and formal/informal training; maintain external professional accreditation where relevant.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, conferences, and specialist media.
- Contribute to the analysis of information, drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and evaluation of their effectiveness within your discipline.
- Provide fault isolation and resolution for complex challenges to limit and address issues promptly.
- Document "as is" and "to be" processes and describe changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability.
- Conduct research using primary data sources and select information needed for analysis of key themes and trends.
- Mentor associate and network engineers on complex troubleshooting, such as resolving wide area network bottlenecks in revenue-generating systems.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide flexible response to network outages or urgent incidents to maintain operational continuity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, enabling the job holder to deal with the majority of situations and advise others.
- 1 to 3 years of managerial experience, including supervising and directing people and resources to achieve specific end results.
Skills
- Determine and analyze trends from collected data to assist in compiling reports for decision-making.
- Design, execute, and report on systems/service tests to ensure applications function as specified.
- Conduct gap analysis between current and future states to identify components of the overall change strategy.
- Adopt solutions to automate and manage multiple applications and functions within an organization.
- Manage and administer wide area networks (WANs).
- Navigate and manage cloud-based infrastructure, including virtual machines, networks, storage, and services.
- Understand, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure and services.
- Understand business context, needs, rules, architecture, organizational structure, cultures, capabilities, and processes.
- Develop an effective change strategy based on gap analyses and enterprise readiness assessment results.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge and skill; act with independence and provide guidance and training to others.
- Maintain system/service and information security, integrity, compliance, and continuity.
- Utilize modeling tools to diagram requirements from data, state changes, processes, process improvements, use cases, and user stories.
- Proficiently use and troubleshoot a wide range of IT hardware, software, and network systems.
- Review and evaluate recommendations and requirements to develop appropriate plans or deliver actions.
- Develop and execute architectures, policies, and practices to manage the information lifecycle needs of an organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in automation scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform) for multisite network provisioning.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification.
