Sr NetApp Engineer

Our client in Morrisville, NC is seeking a Senior NetApp Engineer for a 6-month contract. This role is 75% remote and 25% onsite.

About the role

You will support NetApp storage operations, optimization, and support while working with cutting-edge storage, cloud, virtualization, and automation technologies. The role involves helping enterprise customers solve complex business and technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted technical advisor, driving successful customer outcomes through proactive engagement and solution delivery.
• Independently manage and execute technical projects from planning through completion with minimal oversight.
• Support customers in large, distributed enterprise environments across multiple business units and stakeholder groups.
• Gather, analyze, and communicate technical information effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
• Set clear expectations, provide regular updates, and maintain professionalism in all customer interactions.
• Design, implement, troubleshoot, and optimize storage, data protection, virtualization, and cloud solutions.
• Leverage automation and scripting to improve operational efficiency and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams while maintaining the ability to work autonomously.
• Continuously expand technical knowledge and maintain expertise in emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Ability to work on a W2 basis.
• Ability to work onsite in NC 25% of the time.
• Proven experience supporting large enterprise customers in complex, distributed IT environments.
• Expertise as an ONTAP subject matter expert.

Skills

• Strong expertise across enterprise storage and data management technologies, including:
  • SAN (Storage Area Networks)
  • NAS (Network Attached Storage)
  • NFS
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions
  • Virtualization platforms
  • Kubernetes and containerized environments
• Experience with automation and infrastructure-as-code technologies, including:
  • Ansible
  • Terraform
  • Scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar)
• Strong customer-facing consulting, troubleshooting, and solution delivery skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to gather information, provide updates, and manage customer expectations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and complete projects without extensive direction.

Desired Skills

• Experience with NetApp StorageGRID.
• Experience with NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO) and cloud-based storage solutions.
• Exposure to public cloud platforms and hybrid cloud architectures.
• Experience supporting multiple business units and diverse stakeholders.

Pay

The expected hourly rate range for this role is $55 – $85 per hour. The posted range is an estimate; actual compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, and will align with internal equity.
