Key Responsibilities
- Prepare machines for production by installing, aligning, and securing molds and tooling using hoists and hand tools.
- Calibrate operational parameters such as temperature, pressure, clamp force, and injection speed according to product specifications.
- Monitor production runs to ensure cycle times and part dimensions meet tolerances.
- Troubleshoot machine errors and molding defects (e.g., flash, short shots, sink, and warpage) by adjusting process controls.
- Execute machine start-up and shut-down procedures safely.
- Inspect parts visually and use precision measuring instruments (like calipers and micrometers) to verify product conformity.
- Document process changes, fill out setup sheets, and maintain accurate production logs.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment (e.g., dryers, chillers, and temperature control units).
- Ensure a clean and organized workspace, adhering strictly to OSHA and company safety standards.
Core Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED; technical certifications or vocational training in plastics processing are highly preferred.
- Experience: 1 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in mold set-up, tooling procedures, and machine processing.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with scientific molding/decoupled molding principles, blueprint reading, and PLC controllers.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, and lift/move heavy materials or tools (typically up to 30 to 50 lbs).
