Sr. Metrology Technician

Program Summary: The KBR Metrology team supports manufacturing, engineering & test, repair & overhaul, and aftermarket service centers globally in Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Medical, Safety, Semiconductor, and other industries. Services include complete management of embedded metrology systems, calibration and repair, test & inspection, metrology engineering, preventive maintenance, NADCAP special process support, and AMS2750 Heat Treat pyrometry services.

About the Role

The Sr. Metrology Technician is responsible for performing routine calibrations, tests, and/or inspections in-lab or on-site using accredited standards, handling day-to-day escalations and priority requests, and maintaining traceability and calibration of laboratory standards. This role requires knowledge of basic and advanced calibration, test, and inspection procedures, hands-on experience with advanced test equipment calibration systems, and the ability to review, validate, create, and modify calibration procedures. The Sr. Metrology Technician will also interpret and create Uncertainty Budgets in accordance with ISO 17025:2017 and provide support and training to other technicians.

Responsibilities

• Perform calibration and certification of advanced RF electronic measuring and test equipment according to technical specifications, ensuring traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
• Calibrate and repair equipment such as multimeters, data acquisition systems, data loggers, frequency counters, timers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, attenuators, directional couplers, signal analyzers, signal generators, waveform generators, power meters, and power sensors.
• Calibrate electrical standards used in calibrations and maintain equipment to established performance standards.
• Record maintenance activities in CMS, generate reports on test results, equipment conditions, repairs, and preventive maintenance performed, and prepare necessary documentation as required by customer and regulatory requirements.
• Utilize common laboratory measuring, calibrating, and test equipment.
• Validate, modify, and create calibration procedures from specifications and requirements.
• Interpret and create uncertainty budgets in accordance with ISO 17025:2017.
• Complete all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 10+ years of experience in the field, OR associate’s degree in engineering technology or a relevant field with 6 years of experience.
• Working knowledge of one or more of the following: low DC voltages, current, resistance, capacitance, RF time, frequency & power, time domain reflectance, signal conditioning, etc.
• Ability to interpret, create, and modify Measurement Uncertainty Budgets in accordance with ISO 17025:2017.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, including Excel.
• Ability to travel to client locations to perform onsite service up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Military/PMEL training.
• Experience with IndySoft, Fluke Met/Team, Fluke Met/Track, and Met/Cal systems.
• Familiarity with laboratory measurement and calibration equipment.
• Metrology Standard Lab Experience.
