About the role
American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is dedicated to the technical development and commercialization of sustainable battery material sourcing through lithium-ion battery recycling and metal extraction technologies. Our mission is to provide battery materials that power electric vehicles, grid storage, and consumer electronics.
Responsibilities
- Engage in all facets of process R&D, design, and implementation of proprietary lithium-ion battery recycling processes and primary resource extraction and purification technologies.
- Work closely with research and development laboratory team, engineering organization, and plant operations team to ensure successful facility design, construction, and operations.
- Design and conduct experiments to develop novel processing routes for extracting lithium from claystone and refining to battery-grade specifications.
- Develop novel processing routes for extracting elemental battery components from battery feedstock and refining to cathode-grade specifications.
- Coordinate studies with internal and external collaborators on next-generation recycling technologies.
- Optimize process chemistries and mineral/particle processing circuits.
- Develop flowsheets for primary and/or secondary resource processing.
- Provide technical feedback on metallurgy and particle processing fundamentals and process chemistry to operations and engineering teams.
- Support operations and engineering by analyzing data, writing reports, and presenting findings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mineral/Particle Processing or a related field with relevant experience.
- Strong background in hydrometallurgical and mineral/particle processing.
- Excellent laboratory skills, including wet chemistry and mineral/particle processing.
- Proficient in metallurgical analytical tools such as ICP-OES, TGA, PSA, and XRD.
- Deep understanding of surface chemistry and dewatering methods and technologies.
- Experience in designing and testing mineral/particle processing circuits.
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Pay
Expected Pay Range: $75k - $110k per year. Compensation may vary based on individualized factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
