About the Role
The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Mobility, Surveillance and Bombers (MS&B) organization is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team in Oklahoma City, OK. This position is expected to be 100% onsite and requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
Responsibilities
- Directs the development and documentation of large-scale, complex mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design.
- Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of the development effort.
- Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
- Serves as technical consultant for disposition, corrective actions, and coordination with cross-functional groups to identify/implement solutions and drive strategic improvements relative to production processes.
- Leads and provides technical quality review of the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid systems to establish the system design.
- Leads activities to validate and verify mechanical and fluid systems requirements.
- Leads the development, maintenance, or modification of system components' designs/proposals to provide installation and detail documentation.
- Leads technical meetings and planning efforts, presenting technical information to a wide range of audiences.
- Manages supplier development, test, and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals.
- Prioritizes, delegates, and tracks performance and documentation of analyses of fluid systems/mechanisms/landing gear/ordnance components and systems, selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design.
- Using a variety of media, clearly conveys information and ideas to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
- Supports proposal preparation and new business development efforts.
- Trains and coaches others.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-U.S. equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
- 10+ years of experience with mechanical systems.
- 3+ years of experience working in conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design, including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables.
- Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active U.S. Secret Clearance or higher.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering schematics and specifications.
- Knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics) and their interactions.
- Experience performing hydraulic/fluid system analysis, preferably using MATLAB and/or Easy5 software.
- 3+ years of experience designing tooling using CAD/CAM software, preferably CATIA.
- Experience producing technical reports and presentations.
- Strong written, verbal communications, and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with engineering processes and methods.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Model Based Development tools.

Pay
- Senior (Lvl 5) pay range: $143,650 - $194,350 (based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations).
- Oklahoma Tax Credit: If you have an engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college or university in Oklahoma and are not currently working in the aerospace sector in Oklahoma, you may qualify for a $5,000 tax credit from the state of Oklahoma for up to five years.
