Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Experience With Handling Biological Specimens)

Location: Franklin Lakes, NJ | Duration: 12+ months contract | Schedule: 40 hours/week, 1st shift | Pay rate: $45–50/hr | Employment type: W2 contract (US citizens or green-card holders only)

About the role

This associate will provide technical excellence at the intersection of biological science and mechanical testing for new product design and development.

Requirements

• BS degree in engineering (Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
• 2+ years of engineering experience, preferably in medical devices
• Demonstrated ability to use statistical tools and computer analysis
• Experience with general mechanical testing equipment such as INSTRON
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven learning agility

Responsibilities

• Conduct test procedures for Chemistry, Biological Science, and Clinical laboratories
• Perform mechanical test procedures on INSTRON equipment
• Co-develop and execute studies investigating and troubleshooting technical issues
• Prepare written technical reports, summaries, and quantitative analyses of assigned projects

Skills

• Hands-on design-build-test experience
• Collaborative, can-do problem-solving approach
• Solid application of engineering fundamentals
• Ability to develop and execute test methods and conduct data analysis
• Competency in technical documentation and report writing
• Experience handling biological specimens, particularly human clinical samples (desirable)
• Knowledge of blood-borne pathogen safety procedures (required; training will be provided)
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and willingness to perform hands-on work
