Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering
About the role
In this role, you will influence all aspects of Mechanical design, construction, operations, and maintenance for our global fleet of data centers. This includes fire suppression, fire detection, fire alarm, and mass notification systems, as well as fire-resistant construction and life safety.
Responsibilities
- Drive improvement of design standards and project approaches across the organization.
- Work with internal and external design teams to review designs in progress to ensure they meet established design standards, local code requirements, and any other requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
- Be responsible for providing high quality Mechanical engineering advice on a wide variety of projects globally while working with local engineering teams to achieve alignment of designs and design objectives.
- Coordinate with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to answer requests for information and value engineering queries.
- Be responsible for construction documents, code compliance, design and installation standards, water supply evaluation and assessment, testing, inspections, and submittal review.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders, including design, construction, commissioning, operations, vendors, and other service providers, as well as local building and fire officials.
- Part of a global team, contributing to the work to change the world through technology.
Requirements
- 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
- 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
Qualifications
- Professional Engineering or Architectural License
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
Skills
- Ability to coordinate Mechanical system space requirements, supporting utilities, and equipment locations
- Ability to provide detailed construction specifications for all Mechanical-related trades
- Ability to review all design disciplines to ensure they meet the code requirements described in our design standards

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually.
Schedule
Up to 25% travel may be required.
