About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving innovative transport systems and components, from concept through production support, while meeting performance, cost, quality, and regulatory requirements. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop and refine product designs, conducting analyses to evaluate product performance, and participating in prototype testing and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Engineering for new product development or continuous improvement projects
  • Apply APQP process to ensure customer requirements are met and enhance the quality of our product
  • Define the mechanical assemblies or sub-assemblies of the products or systems under their responsibility, select, within their field of expertise, the technical solutions that best meet the expressed requirements or needs, and justify those choices
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of the technical data and information communicated
  • Integrate cost, quality, manufacturability, and maintainability constraints previously defined, with technical support from relevant stakeholders
  • Report regularly—and whenever required—to the Project Manager or the Head of the Design Office

Requirements

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
  • Completion of a high school diploma and/or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology, or related field preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering support role working on product development and CAD/PLM systems
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage complex product structures and revisions
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, supply chain, fabrication)
  • Willingness to learn new systems (PLM/ERP); training will be provided
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical components, or industrial production is a plus

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong knowledge in APQP process (DFMEA, MSA, control plan, feasibility study, etc)
  • Proficiency in technical/design software
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents
  • Technical documentation writing skills
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and regulations
  • Professional and technical English
  • Global Safety and Security Policy: knowledge and compliance (Health, Confidentiality, IT Security)
