About the role
Designs blow mold and injection molding tooling while managing tooling acquisition projects as well as tooling modification and correction initiatives. Develops procedures for tooling maintenance and actively participates in tooling troubleshooting and repair planning to ensure efficient and reliable operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and modify tooling using 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks).
- Specify, procure, and develop new tooling to support new product launches, tooling replacement, and improvements in capacity and capability.
- Investigate and resolve tooling deficiencies impacting reliability or performance; lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct tooling condition assessments to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Serve as a technical expert in the development of FMEAs; perform Risk FMEAs (RFMEAs) as required.
- Design, specify, and manage the procurement of robotic end-of-arm tooling, as well as tooling for automation and plastic welding processes.
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical, Plastics/Polymers, or Chemical Engineering (other Engineering degrees may be considered dependent on experience).
- 5+ years experience in plastics processing and molding tooling design.
- 5+ years CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred).
- 3+ years tooling machining technologies and methods.
- 2+ years experience in project management.
- 1+ year tooling shop experience.
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Knowledge of automation design.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; sponsorship is not available for this role.
- Relocation will be offered for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in robotics technology.
- Experience in plastics molding and processes.
- Knowledge of industrial sensors.
- Knowledge of tooling repair and maintenance methods and procedures.
