Sr. Manufacturing Engineer - Electrical
Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing cells of new and existing electric/electromechanical components and sub-assemblies in Orchard Park, NY. The expected annual salary range for this role is $86,000 - $126,000, based on candidate skills, experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
About the role
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will manage process documents, tooling, and test equipment for production and development hardware, drive continuous improvement, perform ergonomic assessments, and provide manufacturing engineering rigor required for aerospace industry product realization.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for Safety, Ergonomics, and Management of Change activity in support of site safety goals.
- Generate and revise Manufacturing Processes and Manufacturing Work Instructions.
- Design and maintain tooling and electronic test equipment for mature or new production.
- Utilize DMMs, oscilloscopes, and power sources for testing and troubleshooting.
- Understand electric circuit troubleshooting theory and testing techniques.
- Perform basic wiring tasks for testing and development.
- Program PLC ladder logic and I/O for digital and analog devices.
- Apply working knowledge of single and three-phase circuits.
- Drive First Pass Yield (FPY) and Overall Process Effectiveness (OPE) improvement.
- Provide timely support in resolving manufacturing issues.
- Support Capital expenditures—define equipment needs, obtain supplier quotes, and develop ROI.
- Work with cross-functional teams to address non-conformances and yield issues on products.
- Troubleshoot and test anomalous printed circuit boards.
- Manufacture and test cable and harness assemblies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and minimum three (3) years of work experience in electrical component manufacturing or testing, OR Associate’s/Technical degree and a minimum five (5) years of work experience in electrical component manufacturing or testing.
- Prior experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies.
- This position requires use of information or access to hardware subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).
- No relocation offered; only candidates residing within a 70-mile radius of Orchard Park, NY will be considered (Active Duty Military Service members exempt from geographical limitation).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience/knowledge in aerospace soldering specifications (IPC/J Std) and requirements.
- Experience leading process improvements and continuous improvement projects.
- Experience in troubleshooting/design of electrical test apparatus for production use.
- Knowledge of PFMEAs (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis within Manufacturing).
- Experience with SolidWorks modeling software, AutoCAD Electrical, or LabVIEW.
- Experience with digital and analog circuit/equipment design, testing, and troubleshooting.
