Responsibilities
- Evaluates existing and new requirements to propose new methods and processes.
- Drives key business processes in the silicon carbide growth and fabrication factory, including optimizing, troubleshooting, and supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations.
- Designs, implements, and supports moderately complex electro/mechanical equipment, components, and subassemblies for new and existing products.
- Selects new mechanical components to design systems and utilizes in-house 3D printing capabilities to streamline the design and prototype process.
- Develops and maintains design history, creates qualification test procedures, and carries out qualification testing.
- Enhances production workflows, validates equipment, solves assembly line issues, and trains operators on new processes and technologies.
- Conducts testing and integration testing for functionality and limits, collaborating with vendors on product specifications and component selection.
- Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed of current technology.
- Reads and interprets technical drawings, schematics, 3D models, and computer-generated reports to investigate equipment failures and difficulties.
- Recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions or make product or process improvements.
- Estimates costs and submits bids for engineering, manufacture, and implementation.
Qualifications
- B.S.M.E with 5-7 years related experience.
- 3D CAD experience, SolidWorks, and PDM knowledge preferred.
- Working knowledge of mechanical theories, design principles, and practices, and various fabrication techniques.
- Understanding of vacuum principles, outgassing, Ideal Gas Law, compatible materials, bakeout temperatures, conductance & radiation, etc.
- Office automation experience including the use of spreadsheets for analytical and data evaluation.
- Understanding of MRP systems.
- Good communication and presentation skills to communicate information of moderate complexity to peers and members of the management team (up through senior management level) and some external contacts, such as vendors.
