Sr Manufacturing Engineer - 2nd Shift

About the role

This is a 2nd Shift position which includes an 8% shift premium. Manufacturing Engineers learn production operations and the manufacturing discipline in a controlled environment.

Responsibilities

  • Translate engineering design requirements into formal manufacturing process documentation, including inspection planning, sheet metal fabrication, hardware installation, finishing requirements, and structural assembly instructions.
  • Support process improvements using data analysis, application of best practices, and by implementing innovative solutions to improve process capability and decrease cost.
  • Design, control, and improve the manufacturing process through collaboration with a multi-disciplined team.
  • Perform process development on new product introductions with an accelerated time to market.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and document standard methodologies.
  • Review dimensional inspection data and statistical process control (SPC) data to identify and address potential defects before they occur.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues alongside Quality and Operations personnel and apply CORE/6-sigma methods to determine Root Cause and apply Corrective Actions.

Requirements

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, hardware installation, and structural assembly techniques.
  • Experience correctly interpreting engineering drawings, including ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances as well as typical government and industry specifications.

Qualifications

  • Experience in creating manufacturing processes for complex large aluminum structural assemblies (bolted, welded, and/or riveted), sheet metal fabrication, and hardware installation.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Creo CAD Software.
  • Process familiarity with paint and plating processes.
  • Results-oriented focus on past projects to evaluate success.
  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply CORE principles and techniques.
  • Active DoD Security Clearance.
