Sr. Manager, Technical Project Management
General Summary
The Sr. Manager of Technical Project Management leads the discovery and evaluation of new chemical technologies to support strategic platform product innovation. They direct formulation development teams to create, optimize, and scale new products from concept through commercialization. This role also drives cross-functional collaboration to ensure technical feasibility, manufacturing readiness, and regulatory and product safety alignment for new chemical solutions. Additionally, the position identifies long-term capability needs and builds innovation pipelines that strengthen the organization’s competitive advantage.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate chemical formulation-based product development to support growth of the core business, ensuring outcomes meet performance, cost, and timing objectives.
Identify, scope, and execute formulation superiority programs, including enhanced performance attributes, new formulation platforms, and improved testing methodologies.
Evaluate emerging chemical innovations and partner cross-functionally to define raw material, formulation, and processing requirements needed to enable new product technologies and capabilities.
Oversee raw material substitution and reformulation initiatives, assessing opportunities for cost savings, supply resilience, and sustainability while maintaining quality and regulatory compliance.
Partner closely with cross-functional New Product Development (NPD) teams, ensuring alignment on technical requirements, development workstreams, and program priorities.
Manage R&D formulation and testing timelines, resource allocation, and cross-team dependencies to ensure on-time achievement of development milestones.
Proactively assess technical risks from concept through commercialization, defining mitigation strategies and escalating issues with clarity and data-driven rationale.
Ensure transparent and timely communication of project status, technical challenges, risks, and decision needs with R&D, project management, supply chain, and commercial partners.
Champion disciplined technical project management practices, driving standardization, documentation, and continuous improvement across formulation and testing workflows.
Support long-term capability building by identifying emerging needs, bottlenecks, and opportunities to strengthen formulation, testing, and innovation readiness.
Guide and mentor team members, fostering technical rigor, proactive problem solving, and strong cross-functional collaboration.
Job Specifications
Bachelor’s degree in Sciences or Engineering, preferably Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing a technical team
Minimum of 10 years of experience in formulation
Extensive knowledge of chemical technologies and processes
Proven ability to rapidly commercialize new and existing products within the increasingly complex constraints presented by child safety and regulatory legislation
Flexibility to travel as necessary to fulfill job requirements
