About the role

McLane is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineer to lead customer application development teams delivering secure, scalable, and high-impact platforms across supply chain, logistics, and distribution. This role requires a strong combination of technical leadership and people management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire multiple software engineering teams supporting enterprise supply chain platforms
  • Own delivery across the full SDLC, ensuring quality, stability, and on-time execution
  • Partner with Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and business leaders to execute McLane's Digital Customer Experience platform roadmaps
  • Drive modern engineering practices (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, cloud-native development, observability)
  • Oversee integration across enterprise platforms, data ecosystems, and vendor solutions
  • Establish clear goals, manage priorities, mitigate risk, and optimize resources
  • Lead talent strategy including hiring, coaching, performance management, and succession planning
  • Manage budgets, vendors, and financial transparency while improving performance and cost efficiency
  • Act as a trusted advisor influencing technology and business decisions

Requirements

This is a hybrid position requiring the candidate to report and work from the office at least three days a week. Interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Austin or Temple, TX.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive application development experience with significant people leadership
  • Experience building mobile apps (Flutter), website (Angular, NextJS), Java micro service architecture
  • Strong hands-on experience in software engineering, Microservice architecture, integration, and cloud platforms
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and resources in a matrixed enterprise
  • Strong decision-making, communication, and stakeholder influence skills
  • Ability to thrive in high-availability, fast-paced environments

Skills

  • Technical leadership and people management skills
  • Experience with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, cloud-native development, and observability
  • Experience with enterprise platforms, data ecosystems, and vendor solutions
  • Experience with budget management, vendor relationships, and resource optimization
