Primary Responsibilities
- Own sales and profitability for the territory and team accountabilities.
- Lead and educate the team to execute marketing programs in efforts to grow sales and bring innovation to stores.
- Collaborate with category management and senior sales management to produce specific sales objectives to assist in meeting the company’s targeted sales growth.
- Coincide activities and communications among suppliers and company functional groups.
- Analyze sales territories and recommend improvements as appropriate.
- Lead conversations around program options while assuring efficiencies are realized.
- Define and communicate goals and strategy for the assigned sales area in alignment with Director of Sales.
- Ensure all KPDs, sales targets, and contribution margins are met.
- Maintain and foster an effective working relationship with both store management and our vendor partners within defined area.
- Educate our customers on items and categories in an effort to keep them On Trend.
- Coach, counsel, train, and evaluate job performance of employees in meeting their assigned objectives and developing their skills.
- Maintain a pipeline of potential customers.
- Monitor and assist all accounts receivables activities.
- Proper budgeting and management of sales and expenses related to the assigned customers including sales, credits, expenses, merchandising hours, drop size, and extra performance activities.
- Communicate and work within a team with other KeHE functional areas to meet all company objectives.
- Provide guidance on forecasting demand on new and promotional items.
- Coordinating route coverage of sales reps that are out on vacation, leave of absence or any other route coverage needs that become necessary.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Solid track record of sales success including strategy, planning, and impeccable follow up.
- Excellent presentation skills including listening and asking impactful questions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 70%.
- Some overnight travel required.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively recognize and pursue business opportunities.
- Ability to make solid business decisions and champion causes as needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with people at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a variety of tasks, focusing on those with the highest business impact, including anticipating problems and taking appropriate preventive action to avoid crises whenever possible.
- Demonstrated proficiency in cross functional leadership skills.
- Able to manage a team, provide guidance, and be a team player who links their activities to company objectives, dedication to continuous improvement, and removes obstacles leading to success.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude
- Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in grocery sales preferred which should include both independent and/or chain accounts.
- Experience managing a geographic territory greater than $5M.
- Minimum of 4 years experience managing people.
