Sr. Manager, Payroll Services (part-time / Stamford, CT)
Position Summary
Responsible for processing company payrolls, payroll analysis and payroll tax reporting, while adhering to wage & hour laws, federal and state regulations, and Company policies.
Core Responsibilities
- Coincides the timely and accurate processing of employee payroll data utilizing Dayforce Payroll.
- Initiates funding processes for net payroll, payroll taxes, and all deductions.
- Serves as the administrator for the Supplemental Savings Plan, prepares, and submits Plan contributions for deposit.
- Manages 401(k) and FSA discrimination testing and initiates corrective actions as required.
- Supports annual compliance activities including workers’ compensation annual renewal, R&D tax credit, apportionment of payroll tax data for external tax group, and required Company surveys.
- Develops and monitors accounting-related payroll functions including general ledger interface and account reconciliations.
- Partners with outside tax consultants to interpret and implement payroll related tax regulation changes.
- Manages outside payroll tax vendor to ensure payroll tax reporting and remittances are timely and in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local tax regulations.
- Serves as a point of contact for the Federal, State and Local tax authorities.
- Reviews and researches all incoming tax notices and forwards to outside tax vendor as applicable ensuring timely resolution.
- Prepares tax reporting reconciliations to payroll records ensuring accurate Federal, State and Local tax submissions by outside tax vendor.
- Serves as the main point of contact for audits including Corporate, 401(k), Workers Compensation, Federal and State audits.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or five to seven years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation helpful.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- A thorough understanding of payroll administration and payroll legislation is essential for this position.
- Experience with Dayforce HCM and Dayforce Payroll.
- Strong understanding of payroll accounting and GL entries.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and implement current payroll legislation.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
- Advanced and creative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and detail oriented.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- This position is primarily sedentary and performed in an office or professional work environment.
- The ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer and other office equipment, communicate effectively, and occasionally move within the work area is required.
- This position is primarily office-based with occasional travel required (up to 20%), including overnight travel as needed.
