Sr Manager, Market Development – Industry Growth Lead
About the Role
As a member of the Global Client Growth team at K&L Gates, the Market Development Senior Manager will develop and execute marketing and business development programs for the firm’s financial services industry team and asset management and investment funds practice group. This role collaborates with firm and industry leadership, lawyers, and Client Growth team members to strategize, plan, and support market development activities, with a focus on go-to-market strategy, pipeline development, and sales enablement.
Responsibilities
- Go-To-Market Strategy
- Work with leadership to identify market opportunities and target audiences, and co-develop industry-centric business development strategies aligned with the firm’s strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with lawyers and Client Growth’s content development and events teams to create and manage market-specific content campaigns, marketing collateral, and events to increase visibility and generate client opportunities.
- Maintain strong knowledge of respective markets, including business trends and the competitive landscape for legal services.
- Identify potential press opportunities and collaborate with the public relations team to secure media exposure; identify lawyers to serve as sources for key media contacts.
- Provide insight and feedback on industry goals for rankings and awards; determine strategic categories and lawyers for focus and inclusion.
- Pipeline Development
- Develop and drive the pipeline development process and lead the key account program within the financial services industry team.
- Identify revenue expansion opportunities and develop cross-market initiatives by matching firm solutions to client needs.
- Develop and maintain personal connections in the business community to aid in lead generation.
- Business Development
- Collaborate with lawyers to execute business development activities and plans using firmwide resources.
- Work with lawyers, Client Growth team members, and firmwide personnel to develop a strategic approach to significant opportunities; assist with pitches, proposals, RFP responses, presentations, and maintaining industry qualifications for new business.
- Support business development efforts by identifying leads, collecting and sharing market intelligence, representing the firm at networking events, tracking activity, and identifying relevant professional and trade associations.
- Coach lawyers in preparing for significant business development opportunities, follow up on outcomes, and conduct client debriefings.
- Industry Team Management
- Document, manage, and transfer the industry’s business development and marketing norms and protocols to ensure global team members are equipped with institutional knowledge.
- Manage a knowledge bank of relevant lawyer experience.
- Strategize and co-develop the annual marketing and business development budget with leadership.
- Assist in orienting new lawyers by communicating Client Growth’s structure and capabilities, and aiding in their integration into business development activities.
- Mentor, train, and support the ongoing development of teammates.
- Serve as a member of the Client Growth team by executing firmwide initiatives and participating in other projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of seven years of marketing, business development, and/or sales experience in a professional services firm or closely related environment; experience within a large national or international firm preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the financial services industry; MBA or similar graduate-level degree preferred.
- Outstanding communication skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively at all levels, including influencing senior professionals.
- Ability to work independently and hands-on to achieve objectives in a low-leverage environment.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail and consistent ability to meet deadlines.
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach to work.
Working Conditions
- Manual dexterity required for typing, reaching, lifting small objects, and operating office equipment.
- Frequent computer use at a workstation for extended periods.

Pay
Salary range: $112,000 - $216,000 per year. Compensation will be determined during the interview process based on prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
