About the role
We are looking for a Manager of Indirect Purchasing for North America with responsibility to champion a strategic reset and lead the indirect team and support $200MM+ of goods and services purchasing across seven plants and corporate. This role requires a transformative and proficient leader to drive value creation and team effectiveness in our growing organization.
Team & scope
- Category managers covering capital equipment, MRO, tooling, logistics, facilities, operations services, and corporate services
- Plant purchasing leads embedded in seven plants focused on plant profitability, procurement efficiency and agility, and strategy execution
Responsibilities
- Build working relationships with key stakeholders in manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, program management, HR, IT, and legal
- Develop and work with cross-functional teams to understand indirect material categories, supply chain, processes, requirements, key drivers, risks and economics
- Co-champion a strategic reset and value capture program for key commodities by driving a robust strategic sourcing process and deploying cost reduction levers
- Consolidate spend with the most competitive sourcing and supply chain options across legacy purchasing organizations and new ownership
- Define sourcing process for global, regional, and local categories that drives empowerment, efficiency, and accountability to front-line manufacturing while leveraging cross-plant scale, reuse, simplicity, and infrastructure
- Lead team to develop category sourcing strategies incorporating business risk profile, market supply/demand variables, operational/business requirements, total cost of ownership, simplification, and deep economic and critical thinking
- Develop metrics/KPIs that measure performance, total cost of ownership, and profitability for the organization and the supply base
- Define supplier expectations and work with suppliers to advance value creation; establish supplier communication to review performance and align projects and initiatives
- Manage strategic supplier relationships
- Achieve current-year plant performance and cost targets
- Manage portfolio of Indirect Material initiatives and forecast to achieve annual targets
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years relevant management experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Operations
- Willing and able to travel as required (up to 25%)
Preferred qualifications
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain or Business Management
- Experience with manufacturing, maintenance or operations within the Automotive Industry
- Experience leading through influence (e.g., cross-functional teams, indirect reports)
- Experience in mergers, integration, or value capture; in private equity or consulting
