Sr. Manager Hardware Engineering
About the role
The Senior Manager – Hardware Engineering leads a global, multi-disciplinary hardware design organization within Global Instrumentation & Control (I&C). This role is responsible for scaling engineering capabilities to support significant growth across Operating Plant (OPX) and AP1000/AP300 (APX) programs, while ensuring excellence in the design, execution, and delivery of safety and non-safety hardware systems. The position provides strategic and operational leadership to a globally distributed team, driving alignment across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and program execution to meet increasing demand and complexity.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary hardware engineering organization (25+ FTEs and global resources)
- Develop leadership capability through Lead Engineers and Supervisors while fostering a, safety-focused culture
- Execute workforce planning and hiring strategies to meet accelerating business growth
- Oversee Safety System Hardware, Main Control Room (MCR) Hardware, and GIC Mechanical Design
- Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to safety and quality standards
- Drive alignment, prioritization, and execution across global I&C projects and programs
- Ensure performance against schedule, cost, and quality objectives
- Support execution across OPX/APX projects, B&P initiatives, and innovation programs
- Cook up and expand global drafting and engineering support resources, including WEC Spain
- Scale and optimize globally distributed engineering teams and capabilities
- Establish and implement global design and manufacturing standards for safety and non-safety hardware
- Lead hardware design efforts for Common Q, MCR, and mechanical systems for AP1000/AP300 programs
- Maintain compliance with safety, regulatory, and audit requirements
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- Experience: 20+ years of relevant experience with 10+ years in engineering leadership roles
- Skills: Leadership, technical development, global collaboration, project execution, hardware expertise, and continuous improvement mindset
Pay
The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $144,000 to $180,000 per year.
