About the role
Reporting to the RTR Senior Director, Global Financial Solutions (GFS), this position will be responsible for the General Ledger accounting for one or more entities/RTR process areas within the Global GFS team.
Responsibilities
- Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, including market finance teams globally (FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Controllership, and SOX).
- Quickly establish credibility and influence diverse audiences.
- Maintain ledger integrity and ensure financial compliance with the worldwide Controller’s manual and applicable laws and regulations.
- Work effectively in a deadline-driven and multi-tasking environment.
- Ensure financial records comply with US GAAP; maintain appropriate internal controls and uphold company policies and procedures.
- Manage, prepare, administer, and direct the accounting close and financial reporting process for assigned markets.
- Responsible for timely and accurate review and approval of month-end close and accounting transactions, including multi-currency transactions, P&L and balance sheet account analysis, review, reconciliation, and resolution.
- Contribute to the strategic focus and lead key priorities of the RTR GFS team.
- Support acquisitions through accounting focused on in-scope GFS activity.
- Contribute to the definition and maintenance of key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance monitoring.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing automation, straight-through processing, and efficiency initiatives.
- Interact successfully with internal and external auditors; support quarter-end, interim, and year-end audits by providing timely and accurate data.
- Coordinate balance sheet reviews with the relevant Controllership team.
- Support the creation and presentation of the GFS monthly operations decks to US FP&A teams.
- Ensure adherence and monitoring of accounting aligned to SOX compliance, controls, and processes for all assigned markets.
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly flux reporting packs.
- Travel as necessary.
Requirements
- Qualified Accountant or equivalent accountancy qualification with a fundamental understanding of operating within a multi-country RTR environment in a multinational corporation.
- Strong technical accounting expertise, with the ability to review and support complex accounting transactions.
- RTR experience in a similar organization, with in-depth knowledge of general accounting policies and procedures, particularly US GAAP, as well as statutory and tax reporting requirements.
- Preferred qualifications: CPA, CMA, or equivalent accounting qualification.
- 8+ years of relevant experience and a BA or BS degree in accounting; MBA or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
- Experience in a multinational organization is a plus.
- Experience leading through periods of notable change.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work under pressure, and meet strict reporting deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively across multiple functions, time zones, and diverse cultures.
- Self-starter with the ability to act on own initiative.
- Detailed knowledge and experience of SOX compliance.
- Established experience preferably within a multinational company.
- Ability to interact successfully with non-financial personnel as well as internal and external auditors.
- Strong peripheral vision to capture accounting-related matters.
- Working knowledge and experience of SAP S4/Hana or similar ERP product is beneficial.
- Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, Co-pilot) required.
- Proven analytical ability and critical thinking skills.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $157,590.00 - $203,940.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
