About the role
This position is ideal for an experienced professional to join the SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting team as a Senior Manager. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with proven abilities in preparing clear and concise documentation for SEC filings and technical accounting positions. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with critical thinking skills, a high-energy personality, and flexibility to adapt to quick reporting cycles while partnering with all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Timely preparation and filing of annual and periodic SEC filings on Forms 10-K and 10-Q, including development of timeline, gathering of data, updates to document, coordination of review and approvals, and review of XBRL tagging.
- Conversant with ASC 842; review lease contracts, prepare journal entries, and perform reconciliation of the lease accounts.
- Assist with the preparation/review of quarterly earnings press releases, financial statements, earnings conference call scripts, and other financial data summaries for investor relations.
- Timely preparation and filing of other SEC filings on Forms 8-K, working with the legal team as needed.
- Assist legal with the preparation and filing of the annual proxy statement.
- Analyze disclosures of competitors or other peer public companies to improve consistency and comparability.
- Work with legal, investor relations, and management to assess potential changes/improvements and lead the preparation of disclosures.
- Assist in research for new transactions or accounting-related issues; prepare position papers and provide technical training to the accounting team as needed.
- Communicate with auditors.
- Account for the fair value of the Company’s investment portfolio to assure proper balance sheet classification and SEC disclosures.
- Prepare the earnings per share calculation on a quarterly basis.
- Responsible for annual impairment testing for Goodwill and Intangible Assets Analysis and review of Segment Reporting.
- Ensure SOX 404 compliance for areas of responsibility, including the documentation and review of accounting policies and procedures.
- Ad hoc duties as needed.
Requirements
- BS in Accounting or equivalent is required.
- Certified Public Accountant with an “active” status preferred.
- 10+ years of work experience in Accounting/Finance.
- 3+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience in publicly held companies.
- 3-4+ years of public accounting experience (Big 4 preferred).
- Skilled in U.S. GAAP and SEC rules and regulations.
- Experience with eXtensible Business Reporting Language (“XBRL”) tagging.
- Recent experience in evaluating accounting pronouncements and position papers.
- Experience with Wdesk preferred.
