Clean Harbors Central Compliance is seeking a Sr. Environmental Compliance Manager to mitigate and manage contamination events for our branch network and provide environmental regulatory support to field operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
  • Manage contamination event investigation and resolution, including coordination with laboratories, profiling, remediation, and documentation.
  • Organize documentation for cost recovery and/or litigation for each event.
  • Conduct environmental and other regulatory reporting as assigned for specific types of reports and facility locations.
  • Review facility environmental practices and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Identify problems, recommend corrections, and follow up on areas of environmental non-compliance or potential non-compliance.
  • Advise or assist corporate and facility management on procedural and operational measures to correct or minimize contamination events.
  • Attend required health, safety, and environmental training courses.
  • Potentially serve as a State Lead to monitor and communicate environmental regulatory changes to senior management and field Environmental Compliance Managers.
  • Provide responses to compliance, sales, field personnel, and customers regarding federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Perform assigned audits of internal and external facilities to ensure effectiveness of environmental regulatory compliance programs.
  • Provide information relative to possible risk assessments for external disposal vendors.
  • Perform other assignments as directed by management.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree preferred; degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science is a plus.
  • 4+ years of compliance experience.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) laws/regulations (DOT preferred, EPA required).
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Minimal to no travel required for this Central Compliance position.

Office location may be flexible based on prior experience and assignments, with a preference for the company’s corporate office in Norwell, MA or a facility location.
