About the role

The Senior Manager of Cloud Engineering at Illumio will lead a team responsible for developing scalable, distributed cloud services using containerized microservices in a multi-cloud environment. The role involves driving the design, development, and delivery of cloud solutions, ensuring high-quality automation, observability, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the design, development, and delivery of cloud solutions, ensuring high-quality automation, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Lead and manage a cloud engineering team developing distributed microservices for a multi-tenant, scalable platform.
  • Oversee cloud service development with a focus on performance, security, and reliability.
  • Set up coding guidelines, participate in code and design reviews, and ensure high-quality automation and testing.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to align development with business goals.
  • Manage the full software development lifecycle, from requirements to deployment and operations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation, embracing best practices and new technologies.
  • Ensure adherence to agile methodologies, managing sprints and delivery timelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years in managing cloud engineers.
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and cloud infrastructure (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in network security, TCP/IP, REST APIs, and Unix/Linux environments.
  • Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and collaborate across teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures and microservices.
  • Understanding of cloud security principles and practices.

Skills

  • Technical leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with cloud-native development and deployment.
  • Knowledge of cloud security and compliance standards.

Pay

Salary range: $180,000 - $220,000 annually.

Schedule

Full-time, 5 days a week in Sunnyvale, CA Headquarters.

Location

5 on-site days a week in Sunnyvale, CA Headquarters.
