About the role

The Senior Manager, Digital Architecture within WWT Digital is both a senior technical authority and a people leader responsible for the performance and growth of an experienced team of architects. You will govern solution architecture across multi-team client engagements while serving as the performance manager for your team. This role demands a leader who combines deep hands-on credibility in distributed systems with the coaching mindset needed to develop talent and the executive presence required to advise clients at the highest levels.

Responsibilities

  • Define and govern solution architecture across large, multi-team transformation programs, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Serve as performance manager for a team of senior technologists, providing coaching, feedback, and career development support.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for multiple solution architects, application architects, and technical leads to ensure delivery excellence.
  • Partner with strategists, creatives, and researchers to blend customer insight with technical feasibility inside modern digital transformation roadmaps.
  • Conduct technology reviews, assessments, and dependency mapping exercises that inform modernization strategies and executive decision-making.
  • Lead the creation of custom sales presentations, prototypes, and client roadmaps that translate visionary concepts into actionable plans.
  • Communicate architectural decisions and trade-offs across technical teams and executive stakeholders, tailoring the message to each audience.
  • Lead technical requirements definition and analysis for programs within your portfolio, ensuring architectural decisions are grounded in well-understood business and system requirements.

Qualifications

  • 20 or more years of software engineering experience, including at least five years of experience architecting systems, at least five years in a technical leadership or consulting role, and a minimum of two years managing teams of architects or technologists.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated depth across multiple technology stacks, including backend distributed systems, mobile applications, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript web platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with emergent AI coding practices using LLM-based coding tools to accelerate design and delivery workflows.
  • Proven track record managing and mentoring architects and technologists, including performance management responsibilities.
  • Strong consulting background with experience presenting complex technical strategies to executive and C-suite audiences.
  • Deep understanding of build vs. buy concepts, with the ability to guide clients toward pragmatic technology decisions.
  • Prior experience in native application architecture and deployment in a major cloud environment — Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Expertise with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing practices, and modern DevOps approaches.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively at both strategic and tactical levels.

Travel: Up to 25% of the time.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $150,000 to $188,000 annually. Actual salary will be based on factors such as location, experience, skill set, performance, and business needs.
