Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Cloud Engineers and Platform Engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Own the technical vision and roadmap for cloud foundations and internal platforms.
  • Establish cloud standards, architectural patterns, and governance frameworks across the organization.
  • Define and evolve AWS infrastructure – networking, compute, storage, IAM, security, and resiliency.
  • Ensure all cloud and platform services are reliable and resilient by design, not by operational heroics.
  • Drive adoption of multi-AZ and multi-region resilience patterns where required.
  • Plan and lead large infrastructure projects in collaboration with Engineering, Corporate IT, GRC, and Security teams, and partner with peer leaders across Product and Engineering to deliver end-to-end outcomes.
  • Partner with Security and GRC teams to meet security standards, end-of-life and vulnerability remediations, audit and compliance (e.g., PCI, SOX controls), data protection and recovery expectations.
  • Champion automation-first and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Manage cloud budgets, forecast usage, and drive cost optimization initiatives.
  • Recommend software improvements to achieve higher availability, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Manage on-call rotations and be on the escalation path of the on-call rotation to respond to incidents.

Qualifications

  • Deep hands-on knowledge of AWS at an architectural level.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven people-management experience leading cloud or platform engineering teams.
  • Experience managing direct reports remotely.
  • Experience leading large-scale cloud migrations or platform transformations.
  • Experience managing complex projects.
  • Proven experience building internal platforms or shared engineering services at scale.
  • Deep understanding of Linux environments, networking, and cloud architecture fundamentals.
  • Experience with DevOps/SRE methodologies & tools.
  • Experience in performance engineering and capacity planning.
  • Experience with software development and testing processes in an agile environment.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Helm-charts, Gitlab, Elasticsearch, Confluent Kafka.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and drive results.
  • Able to navigate ambiguity and drive alignment across competing priorities.
  • Familiar with secure development processes across the full SDLC, including secrets management, vulnerability scanning, and CVE remediation.
  • Familiar with GRC review, PCI audit and SOC2 compliance processes.
  • Able to manage multiple priority projects at the same time.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences (verbal and written).
  • Able to go deep technically when needed, while operating primarily at the systems and strategy level.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to make informed decisions about priorities and measure the cost of problems and the impact of solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build solutions to automate monitoring systems to ensure the highest level of uptime for production systems.
  • Experience managing cloud costs, budgets, and optimization initiatives.
