About the Role
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role within the Security Advisory practice. The position blends people leadership, technical depth, and client-facing delivery, acting as both a practice leader and senior security advisor. You will build and lead a team of Security Professionals focused on Microsoft Entra, the Microsoft Defender Suite, and Microsoft Sentinel, while maintaining direct individual contributor responsibilities across advisory, implementation, and client delivery engagements. The role supports presales strategy, workshop delivery, solution implementation, and ongoing security advisory, ensuring both delivery quality and consistent technical direction across engagements.
Geographic scope is potentially global, with a primary focus on North American clients. The role carries billable utilization expectations, account management of assigned customers contributing to practice growth, and serves as a senior escalation point for complex identity, threat protection, and SIEM engagements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coach a team delivering Entra, Defender, and Sentinel services.
- Provide technical oversight and quality assurance across engagements.
- Develop team capability and support career progression.
- Serve as escalation point for complex client issues, architecture decisions, and delivery challenges.
- Help build practice standards, delivery frameworks, and repeatable offerings.
- Act as Senior SME for Microsoft Entra ID (Conditional Access, Identity Protection, PIM, lifecycle governance, Zero Trust).
- Lead and review identity architectures and remediation roadmaps.
- Advise on identity risk, access control, and regulatory alignment.
- Support complex hybrid and cloud-only identity deployments.
- Lead and support Microsoft Defender Suite implementations (MDE, MDI, MDCA, etc.).
- Guide detection strategy, alert tuning, and IR alignment to operating models.
- Provide advanced threat analysis, incident response support, and threat hunting as needed.
- Ensure consistent, best-practice use of Defender across engagements.
- Lead design, deployment, and optimization of Microsoft Sentinel.
- Review analytics rules, automation playbooks, data connectors, and SOC workflows.
- Advise on SIEM maturity, SOC evolution, and Entra/Defender integration.
- Support complex SIEM architectures and operationalization with security leadership.
- Remain hands-on and billable across advisory, workshops, and implementations.
- Lead workshops, design sessions, and executive briefings.
Pre-Sales Support & Client Strategy
- Technical lead for pre-sales solution design, scoping, and validation.
- Lead discovery, assessments, and executive-level architecture discussions.
- Partner with sales teams to shape and position Microsoft security offerings.
- Contribute to proposals, SOWs, and service definitions.
Requirements
- 6+ years delivering enterprise security solutions across:
- Identity and access management
- Endpoint and cloud threat protection
- SIEM / SOC operations
- Strong understanding of Security and AI technologies within the Microsoft platform.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Experience in public speaking and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of marketing strategies and techniques, particularly in the tech industry.
- Proven track record in building and nurturing communities around technology products.
- Ability to create engaging and informative content across various platforms.
- Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving technological landscape.
- Player/coach mindset: lead while staying hands-on.
- Strategic thinker who can lead large engagements while being supported by junior staff.
- Independent direction for daily tasks.
- Collaborative mindset and service orientation.
- Microsoft security/identity certs (e.g., SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500). CISSP/CISM/CCSP a plus.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) is preferred, but not required. North America and international travel is variable and up to 25% annually.
Pay
The compensation range for this role is $180,000 to $190,000 USD annually and may be eligible for an annual bonus. Your specific salary will be determined based on location-based market rate, your abilities in relation to the job specification, and performance during screening and interview.
