Sr. Manager, Advanced Manufacturing

About the role

Lead a team of manufacturing professionals responsible for assembly and test process development, product launch in the factory, and the integration of new products into existing manufacturing lines. This role supports both new products and legacy manufacturing processes, requiring a high level of creativity, initiative, and independent judgment. You will serve as the technical advisor for your team and the broader manufacturing organization.

Responsibilities

• Partner with SRC (R&D) and SRCTec (Manufacturing) engineering teams to influence early design decisions and ensure manufacturing and test considerations are incorporated.
• Lead an Engineering group of Manufacturing, Test, and Project Leads engaged in developing manufacturing processes, equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for effective use of production personnel, material, machines, and facilities necessary to manufacture and test complex electronic systems.
• Provide guidance to product development teams regarding product and manufacturing requirements during development, assuring manufacturability, testability, reliability, test coverage, etc.
• Support new product launches with the development and deployment of manufacturing systems, including all levels of manufacturing test.
• Manage technical projects, responsible for deliverables, scope, schedule, budget, and successful hand-off to manufacturing organizations.
• Support development cost estimates for new manufacturing, assembly, and test processes.
• Be accountable for project execution from concept through launch in the factory and support turnover to the production engineering team, including project timing, major milestones, budget, and other key metrics.
• Support Production Engineering on major product changes and manufacturing improvement projects.
• Identify and implement opportunities related to standards, strategies, and best practices.
• Lead a team producing Manufacturing Test Data Strategies, correlate collected data, recognize discrepancies, investigate problems, and identify optimal solutions.
• Develop critical relationships and establish ways of working with cross-divisional and cross-functional teams at SRCTec and across the SRC Enterprise.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching, and development to engineering and manufacturing team members.
• Conduct trade studies and technology assessments to evaluate new equipment, processes, and capabilities, providing recommendations based on technical merits, ROI, and alignment with strategic goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 15+ years of related experience, including 3+ years of management experience.
• In-depth experience with electronics systems design, development, and launch into a production environment.
• Proficient at executing and leading manufacturing capability development projects involving printed circuit board assemblies, electro-mechanical subassemblies, and functional test equipment in a lean environment.
• In-depth knowledge of Lean-Six Sigma / DfX as it applies to improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost capabilities in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing organization.
• Adept at leading a team of peers to solve challenging manufacturing capability development issues related to technology, schedule, and cost.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with teams, stakeholders, and leadership across the enterprise.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment.
• Must meet eligibility requirements for security clearance.

Skills

• Experience in DoD, AS9100, or other highly regulated environments (preferred).
• A history of challenging the status quo and demonstrated success working with all enterprise stakeholders to promote manufacturing requirements while collaborating on suitable trade-offs.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Syracuse, NY is $153,300 to $157,400 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs.
