About the role

This position is within the Maintenance Engineering group, focused on improving equipment reliability. You will develop and refine our maintenance program for industrial equipment, perform equipment analysis to determine optimal maintenance methods, and ensure these methods achieve desired results. The role involves setting strategies for large-scale repairs or replacements, considering equipment lifespan and utilization, and managing capital investments and projects. You will work with CMMS software, Office 365 programs, and Power BI to analyze equipment failures and identify trends. Collaboration with cross-functional teams—including maintenance, production, process, utilities, facilities, and other technical groups—is key to reducing equipment failure frequency. Additionally, you will provide input to project teams to ensure maintainability and compliance with plant standards for new equipment, all within the Volvo Production System and World Class Maintenance methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for equipment documentation and updating drawings for modifications.
  • Specify recommended spare parts and collaborate with Central Stores to ensure parts availability.
  • Work with Central Stores on replacement of obsolete parts.
  • Analyze emergency work order data to develop plans addressing equipment issues.
  • Participate in EWO meetings to drive root cause analysis of downtime events.
  • Generate or update reports for maintenance engineering activities and KPI reporting.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to improve equipment uptime.
  • Lead and execute improvement projects to eliminate root causes of failures.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance teams for equipment repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Offer troubleshooting support during equipment breakdowns, including non-standard work hours as needed.
  • Prepare technical specifications for procurement of new equipment or repairs.
  • Design improvements to reduce equipment weak points.
  • Work with Maintenance Operations and contractors to schedule and execute maintenance engineering projects and CBM activities.
  • For the Mechanical position: Design equipment improvements at a high level using 3D CAD software.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. Associate Electrical Engineering degree with significant experience in an Industrial Maintenance environment (knowledge of industrial automation, robotics, and controls) may be considered.
  • Preference given to candidates with past maintenance reliability engineering experience.
  • Minimum Experience Required: Four (4) years as an Engineer with responsibilities related to equipment design or upkeep.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 programs.
  • Proficient English communication: written and verbal.
  • Proficient in CAD software.
  • Experience with CMMS / ERP systems.

Pay

The base pay for this position is set at $96,000 - $118,000 annually, with eligibility for bonuses where applicable. The final salary is determined by factors including geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. Pay equity and internal equity of current team members are also considered in the final offer.
