Sr Machinist (1st and 2nd Shift-C)
About the role
Installs, modifies, moves, troubleshoots, repairs and dismantles machinery and equipment according to requisition documentation, layout plans, blueprints or other drawings.
Prepares installation site by constructing foundations and aligning and fastening machinery to the foundation using hoists, dollies, rollers, trucks, tools, squares, rules and micrometers.
Performs operational tests on newly installed, modified, repaired and moved machinery and equipment to ensure that it meets technical specifications.
Fabricates metal parts for prototype equipment based on drawings.
Programs PLCs (programmable logic controllers).

Requirements
- Experience with Lathe and Mill machines.
Qualifications
Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 2-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree
Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred
Knowledge, skills & abilities: Mathematical skills. Technical expertise. Manual dexterity. Physical Stamina. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Leadership skills.
Skills
Mechanical aptitude. Physical stamina. Physical requirements: Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities. Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds. May need to stand for long periods of time. Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery. May be requested to work a different shift. Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required. This position is Safety-Sensitive.
