Sr. Machine Learning Engineer, Applied Science

About the role

Within Pinterest Labs, the visual modeling team focuses on developing Pinterest Canvas, an internal text-to-image generative model. The team is small (~6 engineers) and collaborates deeply with a product prototyping team.

Responsibilities

• Prototype new model architectures for Pinterest Canvas (text-to-image diffusion models).
• Read research papers and contribute to visual generative strategy.
• Collect and curate visual training data (RLHF, fine-tuning).
• Publish work via conferences, papers, and blog posts.
• Mentor junior researchers/interns.

Requirements

• Experience with generative computer vision models (preferably diffusion models).
• 5+ years industry experience in computer vision.
• M.S. or PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related field.

Nice to have

• Publications at top ML conferences.
• Experience with AI coding assistants (Cursor, Copilot, Codex) and LLM-powered productivity tools.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $161,263 - $332,012 USD (US-based applicants only)
