Sr. M365 Architect

About the role

The successful applicant will work as part of a global solutions team to design, estimate effort for, and deploy Microsoft Messaging Services for existing and prospective clients through RFP/RFI processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of specific technology solutions from high-level and detailed-level designs through to deployment and handover to delivery
• Design efficient, operationally cost-effective solutions
• Ensure solutions meet availability and resilience targets in line with requirements
• Develop and exploit shared design blueprints and documentation for ongoing reuse
• Determine server specifications and infrastructure requirements (storage, networks, security, etc.)
• Articulate solutions and benefits accurately and persuasively in both verbal and written form, reflecting client interests or concerns
• Mentor team members, participate in knowledge transfer, and lead technical workshops
• Create detailed design and migration/transition documentation based on messaging project requirements

Requirements

• Minimum of 12+ years’ experience in designing Microsoft Messaging Services solutions
• Design and implementation experience of Exchange 2010/2013/2016 Messaging Services (including hybrid) for at least 10,000 mailboxes
• Experience migrating from legacy Exchange or non-Exchange systems (e.g., Domino, Groupwise) to Exchange 2010/2013/Office 365 Exchange Online
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Office 365, including Exchange Online and Lync Online
• Working experience with third-party migration tools such as Quest or Binary Tree Tools

• Mail transport fundamentals (POP/IMAP/SMTP), including DNS, message trace tools, MX and SPF records, block lists, SPAM, email filtering, and virus protection
• Internet protocols, networking, mail delivery systems, and SMTP
• Windows DNS, MS Clustering, and IIS
• Networking (TCP/IP, load balancing, firewall rules)
• Storage (NAS/SAN)
• Virtualization (VMware, Microsoft)
• Implementation and upgrade of Blackberry Enterprise Server
• Scripting using PowerShell for Exchange 2010/2013/Office 365
• Exchange Federation, Directory Synchronization, and Identity Federation between on-premises Exchange servers and Office 365
• Authentication mechanisms, network, and security (advantageous)

Pay

Annual salary range: $130,000 to $155,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance.
