Sr. Library Clerk (Temp PT)
Temporary part-time position within Library & Learning Services at the Main Campus. This role is fully in-person and may require travel between multiple campuses (Main/North or Boyce/South).
About the Role
Performs a variety of technical and highly specialized library assignments involved in the investigation, acquisition, organization, and dissemination of library materials including books, reports, periodicals, serials, abstracts, and manuscripts.
Schedule
25 hours per week, 4-5 days per week with flexible daylight hours ending no later than 6:00 pm.
Pay
$17.40 per hour (SEIU C salary grade).
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with one year of clerical experience in a library.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including copier, calculator, cash register, microfiche/microfilm reader, and computer with College software or equivalent.
- Ability to travel to any campus or center location within the CCAC system.
- Good organizational, customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented, ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work as a team player.
- Regular and timely attendance.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in a general office environment.
Responsibilities
- Provides quality customer service to internal and external customers.
- Performs and oversees library functions including circulation, periodicals, checking materials in/out, placing holds, calculator rentals, and registering community members.
- Documents every question/answer in appropriate software.
- Assists in interlibrary loans, coordinates notification and collection of overdue materials, and updates student accounts in the college ERP system.
- Assists patrons and faculty with scheduling study rooms, using microfiche/film and AV equipment, and managing reserve materials per faculty request each semester.
- Responds to emails and regular mail.
- Assists in taking inventory of materials and requisitions personnel, equipment, books, and supplies as needed.
- Maintains various statistics and prepares related reports.
- Coordinates work assignments, reviews subordinate personnel work, and assists in training new staff.
- Notifies supervisor of work-study and temporary staff status.
- Performs routine library tasks such as searching records for catalog copy, preparing bibliographies, maintaining card catalogs, and organizing bookshelves.
- Coordinates and trains work-study students and part-time temporary staff, including participation in hiring.
- Performs other clerical duties for department-specific needs and related tasks as assigned.
- Ensures all duties comply with applicable laws, collective bargaining agreements, board policies, and administrative regulations.
Clearances
Current criminal record and child abuse clearances (Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records, and FBI Criminal Background Check) will be required if offered the position.
