This role will be working on-site in either our Bakersfield, Fresno, Napa, Sacramento, or San Luis Obispo offices.

About the role

Originates new residential mortgage loans. Establishes and maintains relationships with realtors, builders and other referral partners to develop and retain existing business and new mortgage lending business for the bank, including conventional residential mortgage and a strong portfolio product line. Develops effective referral sources to generate loans. Connects with borrowers and obtains necessary information to accurately complete a loan application while maintaining strict confidentiality. Collects and reviews required documentation for processing and approval of mortgage loan requests. Maintains communication with borrowers, referral sources, and key stakeholders throughout the loan application process to ensure timely approval and closing, complying with banking and government regulations. Professionally represents the bank in the community and refers clients for other banking services as appropriate. Stays informed on local real estate market trends and changing rules and regulations pertaining to private and government-insured mortgages.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains relationships with referral sources such as realtors, builders, and other partners to increase mortgage-lending activities.
  • Builds internal relationships to create cross-sell opportunities by leveraging the mortgage transaction.
  • Calls on prospective customers and explains loan products and services.
  • Prepares required pipeline reports for department administrative purposes.
  • Corresponds with or interviews applicants or others (e.g., creditors) to resolve questions regarding applicant information.
  • Submits loan package to processing for underwriting and coordinates necessary activities to gather supporting documents for approval.
  • Analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine loan feasibility.
  • Works with processing and underwriting to resolve mortgage-related problems and answer questions.
  • Interviews applicants and requests specific information and/or documentation for mortgage loan applications.
  • Coordinates activities with loan processor and borrowers to ensure proper documentation and verification is obtained.
  • Works with the closing department to ensure successful loan closure.
  • Travels 10–20% of the time.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years of lending, banking, or related experience preferred; additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, and Encompass Loan Originating System (LOS).
  • Excellent human relations, communications, and business writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates teamwork in facilitating workflow.
  • High level of cooperation with others and responsiveness to the Bank’s needs.
  • Exemplary motivation, enthusiasm, professionalism, and team skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to cope with pressure from deadlines, reporting requirements, and training responsibilities.
  • High degree of professionalism and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

Pay

$16.90/hour + commission. Final compensation package will be determined by work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant, along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
