About the role
We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Legal Director for a permanent position in our fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is an integral part of our leadership team and will play a vital role in overseeing all legal matters across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee all legal matters within the organization, including contracts, partnerships, and agreements.
- Ensure the company operates within the law at all times, offer counsel on legal issues, create an effective guardian of the organization and facilitate business strategies development.
- Develop corporate policies and positions on legal issues, and guide management on regulatory and compliance issues to ensure compliance with legal regulations.
- Draft and solidify agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights.
- Manage external counsel and legal budget effectively.
- Oversee and manage corporate governance procedures and ensure they comply with laws and regulations.
- Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization.
- Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues.
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authorities) creating relations of trust.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- A minimum of 5+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a corporate or in-house setting.
- Proven experience as a legal counsel in the business environment.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures.
- Full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation.
- Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
- High degree of professional ethics, integrity, and gravitas.
- Excellent judgement, analytical skills, and the ability to think strategically.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
