Sr. Legal Counsel, Privacy & Security

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Legal Counsel, Privacy & Security to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space. This role will serve as a key legal advisor on privacy, data security, and regulatory matters in a fast-moving technology environment. You will partner closely with business, product, sales, and vendor stakeholders to support customer-facing negotiations and help enable growth while managing risk. The position requires practical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate complex legal requirements into clear guidance that supports the company’s commercial objectives.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Lead complex negotiations involving privacy and data security with customers and vendors
• Develop practical legal solutions that support customer relationships while managing risk
• Communicate legal concepts clearly to a range of internal and external stakeholders
• Anticipate and address negotiation challenges proactively
• Review vendor agreements with a focus on privacy and security compliance
• Maintain standardized contract templates and update them to reflect regulatory changes
• Create public-facing privacy and compliance information for customers

Qualifications

• Admitted attorney with active state Bar membership in good standing
• 7+ years of in-house counsel experience, preferably in technology
• Experience negotiating privacy and data protection terms for enterprise software
• Deep knowledge of GDPR, U.S. state privacy laws, HIPAA, and relevant AI regulations
• IAPP certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, and AIGP preferred
• Proficiency in drafting contracts and maintaining legal documents and templates
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication abilities

Pay

$180,000 – $200,000 annually
