About the role

Join us at the forefront of Amazon's sustainability initiatives to work on environmental and social advancements supporting Amazon's long-term worldwide sustainability strategy. The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization capitalizes on Amazon’s scale and speed to build a more resilient and sustainable company, managing social and environmental impacts globally and driving solutions that enable customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable.

The Worldwide Sustainability Regulatory Reporting team is seeking a detail-focused, results-oriented, and collaborative individual to support Amazon’s global sustainability disclosure processes. Your work will help scale Amazon’s regulatory reporting infrastructure and deliver high-quality sustainability disclosures by partnering cross-functionally to understand Amazon’s environmental programs and key metrics. You will prepare for compliance with climate-related reporting under emerging regulations, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) frameworks, and deliver Amazon’s regulatory reports in a rapidly evolving global environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate emerging regulations, standards, and frameworks and develop preparation plans, with a focus on climate metrics and disclosures.
  • Execute reporting processes such as double materiality assessments and value chain mapping.
  • Design and implement enhanced governance mechanisms to ensure adequate oversight and control over sustainability reporting.
  • Analyze sustainability performance against key goals.
  • Draft performance narratives, including those related to climate mitigation, adaptation, and energy use, in partnership with Accounting, Finance, Legal, and Environment teams.
  • Work with Worldwide Sustainability subject matter experts to develop precise disclosures of Amazon's calculation methodologies for voluntary and regulatory sustainability reporting.
  • Ensure disclosures meet external assurance standards and provide stakeholders with clear explanations of criteria and methodologies used to calculate key metrics (e.g., greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, GHG mitigation and carbon credits, and climate risk assessment results).

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience working in sustainability reporting, sustainability assurance, environment, or legal fields.
  • Deep understanding of the emerging sustainability regulatory environment (e.g., California Climate Rules, CSRD, European Sustainability Reporting Standards, EU taxonomy, and ISSB) and specific sustainability reporting frameworks and standards (e.g., GHG Protocol and Global Reporting Initiative).
  • Strong expertise in GHG Scope 1, 2, and 3 accounting.
  • Technical experience performing climate risk assessments and/or data analytics to uncover insights.
  • Experience understanding complex data and creating new disclosures in alignment with specific reporting criteria.
  • Ability to create and execute a sustainability disclosure strategy that considers and prioritizes the needs of various stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience directly performing independent third-party assurance or managing external audit firms.
  • Sustainability reporting accreditation/certification (e.g., GRI Certified Sustainability Professional, ISSB (IFRS) Sustainability Fundamentals Certificate).
  • Experience with external reporting solutions such as Workiva and familiarity with XBRL tagging.
  • Experience managing consultants, including developing external-facing reports (e.g., design, content development).
