Sr. Java Developer/Tech Lead

About the role

As a Senior Java Developer/Tech Lead, you will design, build, and implement scalable analytics solutions and cloud-based applications for a leading retail client. You will collaborate with technical program managers, technical leads, developers, and client stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable, production-ready technology solutions.

Work model: Remote. This is a remote position based in Bentonville, AR. A few roles may require in-person interviews at Cognizant offices or client locations, depending on project or client needs.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement analytics solutions and application models deployed on cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
• Analyze business requirements, recommend effective technical solutions, and lead technical conversations with client and project stakeholders.
• Build high-quality application features using industry coding standards, including unit testing and expected code coverage practices.
• Ensure newly developed features are properly tested, released, and deployed successfully into production environments.
• Implement monitoring solutions aligned with client standards to support application reliability and operational readiness.
• Document solution designs, service specifications, and technical approaches while guiding developers in preparing functional and technical specifications.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in Advanced Java application development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring JPA.
• Experience designing and developing applications on cloud platforms; Microsoft Azure experience is preferred.
• Strong experience with Kafka for event-driven or high-volume application environments.
• Strong SQL experience, including working with relational databases and data-driven applications.
• Experience designing or supporting large-scale, high-volume applications.
• Ability to partner with technical and business stakeholders, communicate solution options, and provide technical leadership across delivery activities.

• Experience working in client-facing environments with technical program managers, engineering leads, and cross-functional delivery teams.
• Strong understanding of unit testing practices, code quality expectations, and production deployment readiness.

Pay

The annual salary for this position will be between $68,000 to $131,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
