Sr. Insurance Fraud Analyst

About the role

Using advanced analytics, Tesla vehicle data, AI tools, open-source intelligence, law enforcement, and third-party data sources, the Fraud Intelligence Analyst provides critical investigative support to the Tesla Insurance Special Investigations Unit (SIU). This role focuses on data-driven lead generation, network analysis, and intelligence development to assist Major Case Investigators in combating high-impact fraud, including organized fraud rings, staged accidents, large losses, and medical facility fraud.

You will analyze complex datasets, visualize relationships, validate analytic models, and produce actionable intelligence reports that help drive major cases with regional and national implications toward resolution. You will partner closely with Legal Counsel, the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), law enforcement agencies, and internal claims, underwriting, and analytics teams in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigative analysis using open-source, law enforcement, Tesla vehicle telemetry/data logs, AI-driven tools, and third-party data to generate leads and build out cases involving organized fraud rings, staged accidents, large losses, medical facility fraud, and other complex schemes
  • Collaborate closely with Major Case Investigators, Legal Counsel, NICB, law enforcement agencies, and internal partners (claims, underwriting, analytics) on investigative requests, case building, and information sharing
  • Develop customized work products, including intelligence reports, detailed lead packages, link analysis diagrams, and visualizations, that document technical and complex findings in clear, actionable formats
  • Utilize graph analytic and link analysis tools (such as Neo4j, i2 Analyst’s Notebook, or comparable platforms), along with SQL, Excel, Python, and AI/ML tools, to analyze complex networks, identify patterns/relationships across multiple data sources, and uncover fraud indicators
  • Handle sensitive and law-enforcement-sensitive data in strict accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Support the full lifecycle of major case assistance, including pattern detection, root-cause analysis, and scaling insights through technology and analytics to prevent future fraud
  • Adapt quickly to new technology, system upgrades, AI advancements, and digital tools while maintaining high productivity and quality; perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience conducting investigative analysis, fraud intelligence, or data-driven support for insurance fraud, financial crimes, organized fraud, or related investigations
  • 3+ years experience analyzing structured and unstructured data from public, internal, and non-public sources to identify fraud indicators, patterns, and networks
  • 3+ years experience preparing investigative/intelligence reports, lead/referral packages, case summaries, and visualizations suitable for use by investigators, Legal, NICB, or law enforcement
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with analytic and data tools, including SQL, Excel, and at least one of: Neo4j (or comparable graph/link analysis platforms), i2 Analyst’s Notebook, Python, or similar; experience with AI/ML tools for pattern detection is highly valued
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief complex technical findings to investigators, senior stakeholders, and external partners
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of ownership, handle sensitive information confidentially, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous or evolving priorities
