Sr. Inspector, Team Lead - Water and Wastewater

This opportunity involves daily inspection efforts on multiple complex, large, and/or diverse projects while managing a team of inspectors. Work will primarily focus on private development projects in central Indiana. You will prepare daily and weekly reports on contractor work and review periodic pay estimates for accuracy. This is a lead role to direct, mentor, and train junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents, and plans.
• Confirms procedures are followed and materials used conform to specifications.
• Advises contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plans, specifications, and contract.
• Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with the contractor.
• Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work.
• Reviews inspectors' daily reports of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, and quantity of material received and verified.
• Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches.
• Recruits, hires, develops, and retains staff, including planning for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.
• Coordinates schedules and approves timecards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 9 years of construction-related experience.
• All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.

Skills

• Identifies and resolves complex change conditions.
• Mentors staff and coordinates schedules.
• Identifies and resolves complex field issues with the contractor.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in water, wastewater, and stormwater installation or inspection.
• Experience leading a team or crew.
