Sr. Innovation and Design Engineer, Worldwide Design and Engineering
About the role
We are seeking a high-impact engineer to join our team in Nashville. This role involves collaborating with internal and external teams to design high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our fulfillment and distribution systems. You will own multiple projects from concept realization through design approval and will be the primary technical contact for suppliers. After design completion and approval, you will hand off the project to our Ops Engineering team for installation and commissioning. You will support the Ops team to ensure successful installation, commissioning, and launch of the designed systems.
Responsibilities
You will work on a variety of projects, including greenfields, brownfields, and retrofits, in fulfillment centers, cross-dock facilities, specialty facilities (such as reverse logistics and hazmat), and ground and air transportation centers across North America and Europe. Projects may involve template-based designs or be designed from scratch. You will work with a team of highly skilled and engaged engineers in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of design & innovation, research & development work experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent
- Experience with design & innovation and research & development
- Experience in management of engineering design projects
- Experience using business or technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
- 5+ years of specialty (with progressive responsibility) experience
- Master's degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
- Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making
- Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience with design-in-safety
