About the role

Trace3 is a leading Transformative IT Authority, providing unique technology solutions and consulting services to our clients. As a Senior IT Infrastructure Architect, you will lead the end-to-end design and on-site implementation of a comprehensive technology refresh for veterinary hospital facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design robust, scalable on-site architectures tailored for a 24/7 veterinary hospital environment.
  • Develop comprehensive Deployment Plans and Methods of Procedure (MOP) for all supporting personnel to ensure zero-to-minimal clinical disruption during the refresh.
  • Draft detailed Scope Documentation, technical documentation as needed.
  • Develop a conversion schedule and timeline depicting multiple work shifts and resources.
  • Work with teams to provision IP space for future projects.
  • Create Support Handoff documentation to outline micro segmentation of networks and VLANs with static name and IP assignments.
  • Preconfigure Meraki and VeloCloud networks per technical documentation.
  • Calculate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for all supporting hardware, including server, storage, and networking components.
  • Perform infrastructure sizing and capacity planning to support high-resolution medical imaging and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Direct on-site support teams during the technology refresh, serving as the lead consultant to drive industry best practices.
  • Lead on-site hypercare activities post-deployment, providing advanced troubleshooting across networking, server, and storage stacks to remediate all outstanding issues.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison for client executives, providing clear status updates and strategic recommendations.
  • Coordinate with low voltage subcontractors to convey cabling requirements and answer any questions they may have during the installation process.
  • Collaborate with third-party application vendors to integrate connected clinical modalities into the core architecture.
  • Ensure all vendor-specific requirements for security and connectivity are met within the hospital’s network framework.

Requirements

  • Ability to travel (50%+) and work weekends as needed.
  • Virtualization Mastery: Extensive, hands-on experience with both vmWare ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
  • Technical Depth: Advanced proficiency in networking (LAN/WAN, VLANs), server infrastructure, and storage solutions (SAN/NAS).
  • Consultancy Mindset: Proven ability to organize and direct technical teams while maintaining a client-centric, authoritative approach to project delivery.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills; must be comfortable translating complex technical concepts for executive-level stakeholders.
  • Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare Experience: Prior experience working on-site in a human or veterinary healthcare facility is strongly preferred.
  • Clinical Knowledge: Familiarity with medical application workflows and data privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA or equivalent veterinary standards).

Pay

Estimated Pay Range: $133,000 USD - $175,000 USD.
