Sr Image Science Analyst

BAE Systems Intelligence & Security division is seeking a Senior Imagery Science Analyst to join our team in Quantico, VA in support of a Maritime effort for the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity (MCIA) Analysis, Geospatial Imagery, and Counterintelligence Support Services program.

About the role

Exciting, invigorating and satisfying — the ideal candidate will provide direct support to MCIA to deliver situational awareness and intelligence production and analysis for numerous Areas of Responsibility (AORs). The role involves conducting Imagery Science analytic production by interpreting imagery including visible, infrared, radar data, and full motion video to identify foreign conventional and unconventional military installations; civilian infrastructure relevant to military capabilities; weapon systems; orders of battle; military equipment and defenses; battle damage assessments; communications; and humanitarian efforts.

Responsibilities

• Provide imagery science support specifically related to the exploitation of imagery from sensor disciplines such as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Thermal Infrared, Spectral, or Geospatial, including OPIR, Moving Target Indicator (MTI), Photogrammetry, and Light Imaging Detection and Ranging (LIDAR).
• Provide technical analytical expertise in support of the USMC National Geospatial-Intelligence Program funded Full Spectrum GEOINT (FSG) analysis and production program.
• Recommend operational GEOINT architectures and FSG guidance to analysts, operators, and managers on processes, techniques, and procedures.
• Participate in the development of program strategies, issues papers, briefings, and senior-level correspondence for MCIA and HQ USMC leadership to sustain and expand FSG analysis and production capabilities.
• Provide technical assistance in establishing relationships with NSG functional managers to promote service-specific GEOINT requirements and resolve shortfall impacts to MCIA GEOINT operations.
• Provide guidance and expertise to improve competency of military and civilian analysts in applying advanced remote sensing techniques.
• Support the development of collection strategies for standing, ad hoc, and emerging FSG capabilities, including investigating and reporting on collection parameters and constraints associated with littoral mission requirements.
• Educate and train MCIA collections staff on existing collection strategies and their development and implementation.
• Support the development and dissemination of FSG products to satisfy USMC and Government requirements, including fusion with data from other intelligence disciplines (e.g., HUMINT, SIGINT, OSINT, MASINT).
• Provide knowledge on geospatial exploitation software suites and use data from various sensors and collection platforms.
• Develop and standardize innovative and adaptive full spectrum GEOINT products and services.
• Provide research and guidance on sensor application to specific geospatial problem sets, sensor-specific processing techniques, and related training/education.
• Analyze and conduct statistical analyses on image datasets, identifying and using alternative data sources to satisfy mission requirements.
• Collaborate with and provide scientific support to imagery/geospatial analysis to sharpen assessments of current intelligence issues.
• Provide Imagery Science expertise to support GEOINT analysis and assessments on intelligence issues.
• Evaluate commercial, academic, and outside approaches and algorithms, refine measures of effectiveness, improve system environments, and create new procedures.

Requirements

• At least 12 years of relevant experience, with a portion of that experience within the last 2 years.
• In-depth mission knowledge and skills related to Imagery Science Analysis.
• Mastery of qualitative and quantitative analytic methodologies.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• In-depth analysis of analytic operations and knowledge management issues across organizational and IC boundaries, clearly articulating findings.
• Ability to review analytic products for cogent arguments, tradecraft standards, and adequate support for conclusions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Multi-INT expertise, with excellent research, writing, and briefing skills for senior leadership in an intelligence environment.
• Master’s degree in a field related to the work.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $86,235 – $146,638. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
