As an ICT Colo Regional Engineer, you will be part of a global engineering team comprised of Mechanical, Electrical, and Control Engineers. The ICT Colo Engineering Team is a new, fast-growing engineering team rethinking the design for critical communications pathways that connect various pieces of hardware inside AWS' data centers. We are looking for team members who can help innovate delivery of ICT components, support speed to market, raise the bar, and have a desire for professional growth and continuous learning.
You will work directly with engineers and managers across the company to develop connectivity solutions for the physical layer, provide pathway and cabling designs and specifications for construction and permitting, and work with industry suppliers and manufacturers to develop product requirements and recommend new technologies.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic and copper plant designs and specifications
- Review and approval of ICT pathway, cable, and equipment submittals
- Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively
- Support new technology and design activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost, and reduce installation time
- Travel 40+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS' Data Centers
Basic Qualifications
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities
- 10+ years Information and Communications Technology (ICT) design experience in Mission Critical Environments
- 5+ years of experience developing design documentation (plans, specifications, etc.) for construction and/or permitting
- 5+ years of working experience with fiber optic components, cabling, and interconnect products, technologies, and standards
- BICSI RCDD Certification or internationally recognized equivalent (e.g. CDCDP, DCDC, etc.)
- Professional Engineering (PE) Electrical License
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Experience working with coloration facilities to develop construction drawings and specifications
- Experience in Revit, AutoCAD, or other Computer Aided Design Tools

- USA, AZ, Tempe: $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually
