About the role

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. This includes individual households, schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Conceive and design phased arrays aimed at delivering affordable, reliable, high bandwidth connectivity to customers.
  • Work closely with Amazon Leo’s various sub-teams and engage third-party suppliers to drive product definition, design, optimization, implementation, and test.
  • Make daily high-value judgements on tactical vs. strategic decisions to achieve system performance targets and maintain schedules despite unexpected challenges.
  • Own or contribute to the following aspects of your designs from concept through production:
    • PCBA development
    • Design and optimization of different blocks of electronics sub-systems
    • Design high-speed digital and/or RF circuitry in collaboration with various teams
    • Lead and review schematic capture and PCB layout
    • Lead PCB vendor engagement for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review
    • Optimize PCB stack-up for performance and cost
    • Generate test plans/procedures based off high-level requirement definition
    • Complete board bring-up and perform test campaigns for different modules and subsystems
    • Design of automated test systems, test fixtures, and factory test
    • Support the transition of designs to production

Requirements

  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of industrial experience, especially in board-level analog/digital design
  • 1+ years of experience in high-speed digital design, multi-gigabit SERDES, signal and power integrity
  • 2+ years of experience using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics or Cadence layout tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the project management of technical projects
  • Masters of Science or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Familiarity with analog electronic fundamentals (transistor circuits, op-amps, filters, etc)
  • Experience in design, implementation, bring-up, and debugging of proof-of-concept hardware and prototypes
  • Familiarity with power supply design
  • Previous work experience in a programming language
  • Proficiency in developing programs for instrument control

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $137,300.00 - $185,700.00 USD annually.
